Air conditions cool and treat the air in your home for a more comfortable indoor environment. Portable air conditioners offer the advantages of window or wall models with the flexibility to place them anywhere in your home. Rather than being confined by your home’s layout, which may not have windows at optimal locations, portable air conditioners can go wherever you need them, which is especially helpful in small spaces such as apartments or dorm rooms. Most portable AC units have casters to make them easy to transport from room to room.

In order to work properly, hot air needs to ventilate through the air conditioner. During the cooling process, humidity is removed from the air and condensed before being expelled from the unit. The air conditioner can either collect the excess water in a tray or evacuate it through a hose connected to a window or other departure point. Some models use the collected moisture to re-hydrate the air, cooling it further.

For even greater air cleaning abilities, look for a portable AC with HEPA filter system. The HEPA filter will provide superior particle reduction, removing dust, dander and pollen from your home. The result will be cooled air that’s also significantly easier to breathe. You may even notice a reduction in allergy symptoms as common triggers are caught in the system’s filter.
